Ride the Storm with DOORS ALIVE – The Band That’s Been Breaking Through for 50 Years (and Is Just Getting Started)

You thought you’d seen it all. You thought tribute bands were dime-a-dozen and The Doors were long gone, left to echo through the vinyl grooves and flickering light of YouTube nostalgia. You thought wrong.

DOORS ALIVE L’America rides again.
World-Famous DOORS ALIVE isn’t just a tribute. It’s a resurrection. It’s fire, poetry, and rock-and-roll fury channeling through a band that’s not only mastered the mystique of Morrison but lived a musical legacy of their own.

Before world famous DOORS ALIVE, there was CRYSTAL SHIP—the very first “tribute band” …a band only very recently reformed to electrify audiences across the country and around the globe, thanks to a visionary keyboard player who brought Ray Manzarek back to life with haunting precision and eerie (some say creepy) “look alike” stage presence.

After years of re-starting, touring and perfecting the experience, the CRYSTAL SHIP keyboard/sax player, James Graff playing Ray Manzarek joined forces with musical lifers who’d been playing together nearly 50 years—in bands like local favorites THE MUGGLE BROTHERS and…

MOTOR – voted Best Hard Rock Band and 2nd Best Hard Rock Original Band by readers of XS Magazine…and produced by none other than…

Captain” Kirk Kelsey …Yes, that Kirk Kelsey3-time GRAMMY-winning producer for CREED, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS, 3 DOORS DOWN, and, now, FOH – Front Of House – engineer for KEITH URBAN! He’s back to doing what the MOTOR boys first met him doing – apparently what he loves best – mixing and producing sound…for a LIVE AUDIENCE!! RESPECT!

Kelsey cut his teeth at the Button South in Hallandale, Florida USA, with the boys of DOORS ALIVE: MOTOR had to beg “Captain” Kirk to produce their very first album/CD – the first for MOTOR AND for “Captain” KIRK KELSEY: He refused to produce claiming that he was “only a live soundman”. But everyone who performed on the Button South stage or anyone who came to watch and listen to his absolutely killer sound production knew better!… That’s not just rock history—it’s your local rock history. And it’s still alive.

The core of the band remained remarkably the same throughout all the various band transformations. Back in the early ’90s, Lou Manero stepped in for Frank Hill on bass in MOTOR. Then James Graff joined MOTOR (leaving both the BERTIE HIGGINS BAND and DENNIS YOST of the CLASSICS IV whose late ’60s hits SPOOKY, STORMY, TRACES OF LOVE “competed” with THE DOORS’!) Russel “the Love Muscle” Fann joined MOTOR which morphed into THE BONE SHAKERS…CDs were written, arranged, engineered, recorded, produced and released to extraordinary critical acclaim…(more stories – and listening – for another day!)…

But throughout all these many decades of musicianship, the ever-evolving lineup – really the exact same four core professionals – Sean, Frank, Larry and Dirk – of the MUGGLE BROTHERS have made this band a Florida institution. With only a few personnel shifts (like powerhouse vocalists Rik Vincent and Gary Wayne joining the fray), these musicians have remained a family—onstage and off—through hurricanes, heartbreaks, hard rock, and hallucinatory highs.

But back to now…

DOORS ALIVE is burning down every club, theater, and festival stage it hits. From thunderous “L.A. Woman” finales to eerie “The End” storytelling, this is a show that commands attention. It’s unpredictable. It’s immersive. It’s an acid-fueled séance with musical precision, psychedelic ambiance, and just the right dose of Dionysian madness.

This isn’t a cover band.
This is a living portal to one of the most electrifying acts in rock history, brought to life by musicians who’ve paid their dues, earned their scars, and still bring the fire.
